Farm to School is more than a program – it is a people-powered movement that seeks to teach students where food comes from and how delicious it can taste when eaten in season. Illinois Farm to School is working to develop positive behaviors in school-age children, and change the way we view the school lunch tray.
By becoming a supporting member of the Illinois Farm to School Summit your organization helps us train, encourage and educate! We will include your logo on our website as a sponsor and send your information to our Network. If you would like, you can have a table during the afternoon activities and offer your materials and information to schools. If you have a suggestion for other ways to connect as a sponsor, please let us know.
Our summit is free to all attendees. By becoming a summit sponsor you allow us to keep it affordable and accessible for all. When you teach a child to enjoy fresh, healthy and local foods you create a recipe for a lifetime of healthy eating! Seeing the delight and surprise in a third-grader’s eye when they crunch into sweet, local cucumbers on their school lunch tray is worth the effort of education and procurement. Won’t you help us create that wonder through training and hands-on experience?
Summit Support Opportunities
- Training for Change: Send school food service staff with a limited program budget to the summit to learn how to apply methods of successful procurement and learn hands-on food preparation with proven service techniques for local school lunches. Do you know a school district interested in Farm to School? You have the option to choose which district you wish to support.
One district employee: $135 pledge
Two district employees: $215 pledge
Three district employees: $295 pledge
Additional Opportunities
- Kitchen Tools Giveaway: Help us put needed tools in the hands of school kitchen staff! From mandolins to scales and Harvest of the Month materials, tools are needed to create a successful program.
- School Garden Giveaways: Teaching students how their food grows can be an eye-opening experience. Help us get them growing in the gardens! Trowels, soil and and seeds, oh my!
- “Let’s Do Lunch” Sponsor: When is lunch more than just lunch? When we train school kitchen personnel to cook and incorporate local foods into lunch menus! Help us train and feed our summit attendees. Let’s fill that conference lunch tray with local foods!
